Richard G. Glogau, M.D.
is Clnical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California San Francisco, and is an expert in cosmetic and surgical dermatology with 30 years of experience as a leader in the field. Dr. Glogau has developed a national and international reputation for "cutting-edge" therapies, especially in treatment of the aging face and cosmetic surgery. Dr Glogau consults for many companies in the dermatological and cosmetic arena and conducts numerous clinical trials of cosmetic surgical devices. He was recognized by Allure Magazine as one of the most influential dermatologists in the U.S.

Dr. Glogau graduated from Harvard Medical School. He is Board Certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology voluntarily sat for the recertification examination and was re-certified in 2010 by the American Board of Dermatology. He has been recognized for his contributions at the local, national, and international level. He is an active member of the clinical faculty at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He trains dermatologic surgeons from the all over the world. Currently, he is Director of the post-doctoral fellowship in Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery at UCSF. An expert on the cosmetic use of Botox®  for facial frown lines and wrinkles, he also pioneered clinical research on the use of the drug for excessive sweating of hands and underarms, a novel use that was featured on national ABC's 20/20. He developed the Glogau Photoaging Classification, widely known as "The Wrinkle Scale". This scale has become a standard for patient selection in treating the aging face. The scale was used by Neutrogena to launch their national campaign for Healthy Skin™ Product Line and Retinol Anti-Wrinkle cream, and has been quoted in the Physicians Handbook which accompanies the chemical peeling product, B-LIFTx, a beta-salicylic acid peel system introduced for treating acne and sun-damaged skin.

Dr. Glogau lectures extensively at professional meetings nationwide and is the author of four textbooks, 30 book chapters and over 45 journal articles. He was selected by Town & Country Magazine as one of their Top 18 Cosmetic Surgeons in the U.S., recognized in Self Magazine as one of their 32 national "flawless dermatologists", and repeated appearances in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal for his work with the aging face and skin. He serves as a medical consultant to ABC Medical News. Dr. Glogau has appeared on local and syndicated national medical television programs such as Dr. Dean Edell, Extra!, 20/20, and has been a regular featured guest on Fox Broadcasting's Mornings on 2.

He was selected by his peers for inclusion in every edition from 2001 on for Castle and Connolly’s "Best Doctors" list, a national survey of the most prominent doctors in their respective specialties. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in the San Francisco Magazine "Top Docs" article, and included by editors Woodward and White as one of the 2,000 Best Doctors in America. He served as the Cosmetic Surgery Editor for the monthly journal Dermatologic Surgery. He has consulted for a variety of industry icons including Allergan (Botox), Medicis (Restylane and Perlane), Revance Therapeutics (topical botox), Liposonix (ultrasound fat sculpting), Lumenis, Coherent, Connetics, Johnson and Johnson, Thomson Educational (Advanced Therapeutic Corp), Neutrogena, and Contura (Aquamid).

Dr. Glogau is married and has one son, currently attending University of California Berkeley.
